Von der Leyen Warns of Retaliation as EU and US Teeter on Brink of Trade War

The European Union is preparing countermeasures against the United States in response to new tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the EU is ready to retaliate if negotiations with the White House fail.

The EU has already announced retaliatory tariffs on $28 billion worth of US goods, which are set to take effect in mid-April. Von der Leyen warned of immense consequences from the US tariffs, including uncertainty and further protectionism that will negatively impact consumers and businesses worldwide.
