UK Tightens Borders: EU Meat and Dairy Imports Banned Amid Foot-and-Mouth Fears

1 Min Read

The UK has imposed a ban on importing meat and dairy products from EU countries for personal use, citing the risk of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). This move aims to prevent the spread of FMD, which can be devastating to cattle, and protect the UK’s food security.

Travellers arriving in Great Britain will be restricted from bringing cured meats, raw meats, and milk into the country, with exemptions for certain items like infant milk and medical foods. Those found with restricted items may face fines of up to £5,000 in England.
