Trump’s Approval Rating Finally Matches His Hairline: A New Low

4 Min Read

I’m just so done with President Donald Trump‘s approval ratings, can’t we just get a clear answer for once? And no, I’m not talking about his infamous hair, although that’s a whole different story. But, I mean, come on, the man’s approval rating has been all over the place, it’s like trying to predict the weather – you just can’t.

Apparently, according to pollster FiveThirtyEight, Trump’s approval rating has turned negative for the first time since he returned to the White House for his second term. Because, you know, that’s exactly what we needed, more drama in the White House. I mean, can’t we all just get along? But, hey, at least we can all agree that his books are bestsellers, right?

And, of course, the timing of this news couldn’t be more perfect, I mean, it’s not like the man just gave a joint address to Congress or anything. Oh wait, he did, and apparently, it was largely well received by Americans, because who doesn’t love a good speech, am I right? But, seriously, a poll by CNN showed that 69 percent of Americans had a positive reaction to the address, while a CBS News and YouGov poll showed 76 percent approved of it. I guess that’s what they mean by “mixed signals.”

But, let’s get back to the matter at hand, shall we? So, Trump’s disapproval rating overtook his approval rating for the first time on Wednesday, according to FiveThirtyEight. And, fun fact, this shift in approval happened faster for Trump than it did for his predecessor, former President Joe Biden. Because, you know, that’s exactly what we care about, who can lose approval faster. It’s like a race to the bottom, and I’m not sure who’s winning, but I think we’re all losing.

And, because I love a good politics book, let’s dive deeper into the numbers. Apparently, Biden‘s approval rating went negative in September 2021, around seven months after he was sworn into office, while for Trump it’s been just over a month. But, hey, at least Trump has maintained approval for longer during his second term than his first, according to FiveThirtyEight. Silver linings, people!

Now, I know what you’re thinking, what does this all mean? Well, let me tell you, it means that we’re in for a wild ride, folks. I mean, if Trump’s approval ratings can switch from positive to negative in just one day, who knows what’s next? Maybe he’ll just wake up one morning and decide to be a chocolate cake connoisseur or something. But, seriously, it’ll be interesting to see whether Trump’s second term as president will alter the trend of negative approval ratings.

And, because I love a good twist, it turns out that ABC News, which operates FiveThirtyEight, is reportedly axing the aggregator, according to an announcement made Wednesday. Because, you know, that’s exactly what we needed, more uncertainty in the world of politics. But, hey, at least we can all agree that politics news is always exciting.

But, I mean, seriously, can’t we all just get along? Is that too much to ask? I guess so, because President Donald Trump is still out there, doing his thing, and we’re all just along for the ride. So, buckle up, folks, it’s going to be a bumpy ride. And, hey, if you need me, I’ll be over here, eating my popcorn and watching the drama unfold.
