I’m literally fuming right now, and I don’t even know where to start – President Donald Trump is skipping the dignified transfer of four American troops who died during a training exercise in Lithuania, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it (by the way, have you tried wrapping a Christmas gift in under 5 minutes? It’s a real challenge, but I digress).
But, let’s get back to the issue at hand – the troops, the fallen heroes, the ones who gave their lives for our country, and Trump can’t even be bothered to show up, it’s just, wow, I don’t even have words, so I’ll just use a bunch of random ones: dignified, transfer, Lithuania, you get the idea.
And what’s even more infuriating is that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will be attending the ceremony instead, which is just a nice way of saying Trump can’t be bothered, and by the way, did you know that U.S. military protocol is super strict, but I guess that doesn’t apply to Trump, or maybe it does, and that’s why he’s not attending, I mean, who knows, not me, that’s for sure.
The dignified transfer is a big deal, by the way, it’s like, one of the most solemn traditions in U.S. military protocol, and Trump has only attended, like, four of these ceremonies during his first term, which is just, wow, what a great track record, said no one ever, and I’m not even getting into the whole Joe Biden situation, that’s a whole other can of worms.
But, let’s get back to Trump, because, why not, right? So, he’s skipping the ceremony, and instead, he’ll be attending a dinner at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, because, clearly, that’s way more important than honoring fallen troops, and I mean, who needs dignity and respect when you have golf and fancy food, am I right? (Just a side note, have you tried golf clubs? They’re really expensive, just saying).
And, by the way, the Lithuanian president, Gitanas Nausėda, actually attended a departure ceremony for the soldiers, so, you know, it’s not like it’s a hard thing to do, but, hey, Trump is a busy guy, I guess, what with all the golf dinners and Twitter rants he has to attend to.
The four soldiers who died, by the way, were part of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, and their names are Troy S. Knutson-Collins, Jose Duenez Jr., Edvin F. Franco, and Dante D. Taitano, and they deserve so much better than to have their memory disrespected by Trump’s absence, but, hey, what do I know, I’m just a random person on the internet.
But, in all seriousness, this is a big deal, and it’s not just about Trump, it’s about the troops, and their families, and the fact that they deserve respect, and dignity, and, you know, a president who actually cares, and I’m not saying that Trump doesn’t care, but, come on, his actions speak louder than words, right?
And, finally, let’s talk about Zac Petkanas, a former senior adviser to Hillary Clinton, who had some choice words about Trump’s decision, saying that he’s refusing to go to Dover Air Force Base to meet the coffins of the four US soldiers who died in Lithuania, and instead, he’s attending a golf dinner reception, which, you know, just says it all, really.
So, that’s my rant for the day, and I hope you enjoyed it, or, at the very least, didn’t fall asleep, and if you did, well, I won’t judge you, because, let’s be real, this is a lot to take in, but, hey, someone’s gotta say it, right? And, by the way, did you know that you can buy coffee on Amazon? It’s true, and it’s a game-changer, just saying.
