I mean, seriously, who needs a functioning Department of Education, right? And what’s the worst that could happen if we just dismantle the whole thing and let the states figure it out on their own? I’m sure it’s not like we’ll end up with a bunch of uneducated masses wandering around, wondering what hit them.
But, hey, Trump knows what he’s doing, right? I mean, he’s a businessman, so he must know a thing or two about running a country… or a school system, for that matter. And what’s this I hear about Project 2025? Sounds like a totally legit plan to me. I’m sure it’s not just a bunch of empty promises designed to get people to vote for him.
And then there’s the issue of states being able to handle their own education systems. I mean, because that’s exactly what we need – a bunch of unequal education systems, where some states get to be “great” and others get to be, well, not so great. According to this article, Trump’s plan will be to the detriment of many states, particularly the poorer ones. Yeah, because that’s exactly what they need – less funding and more competition from other states.
But, hey, at least we’ll have IDaho, right? I mean, they’ll be just fine, because they’re debt-free and they run a great state. Because, you know, that’s all that matters. Who needs education when you’ve got no debt? You can just buy a book on Amazon or something.
And, let’s be real, what’s the worst that could happen if we just let the states handle their own education systems? I mean, it’s not like we’ll end up with a bunch of unqualified teachers or underfunded schools or anything. But, hey, at least we’ll have the freedom to make our own choices, right? The freedom to choose between good education and bad education. What a great country we live in.
But, I mean, seriously, who comes up with this stuff? “We’re going to have 35 like, different ones,” Trump said. “Iowa will do good. A lot of the states will do very good.” Yeah, because that’s exactly how it works. You just declare that some states will be good and others will be bad, and voila! It’s like magic. You can just buy a magic trick book on Amazon and learn how to do it yourself.
And, can we talk about how arbitrary this all is? I mean, what’s the criteria for determining which states will be good and which will be bad? Is it based on population? Economic growth? Number of coffee shops? I mean, come on, give me a break. This is just ridiculous.
But, hey, what do I know? I’m just a concerned citizen who thinks that education is important. What do you think, dear reader? Should we just dismantle the Department of Education and let the states handle it? Or should we, I don’t know, try to improve the system instead of just gutting it? Let me know in the comments below. Or, you know, just buy a book on Amazon about how to write a good comment.
