I mean, can you believe this? The Trump administration is at it again, disregarding court orders like they’re going out of style. And what’s the reason this time? Oh, of course, it’s all about barring those pesky “sanctuary” states from getting their hands on some much-needed FEMA funds. Because, you know, who needs help with natural disasters when you can just, you know, asaki your way through it?
And let’s talk about these poor states, shall we? I mean, Oregon is still waiting for $120 million in funds to deal with winter storms, flooding, landslides, wildfires, and flood mitigation. Like, what even is that? A disaster survival kit wouldn’t even cover all that. And Hawaii, poor Hawaii, is still waiting for $6 million to rebuild after those devastating wildfires in 2023. I mean, can you imagine if it was, say, Mar-a-Lago that got hit by a wildfire? I bet the funds would be flowing like champagne at a Trump wedding.
But, no, instead of doing the right thing, the Trump administration decides to create some new “review process” for allocated funding. Because, you know, what they really need is more bureaucratic red tape to strangle these states with. I mean, come on, it’s not like they’re trying to sabotage the whole system or anything (although, let’s be real, it’s not like they haven’t done that before). And the states are all, “Hey, we haven’t gotten our funds since early February,” and the Trump administration is all, “Oh, yeah, that’s just because we’re, you know, reviewing things.” Reviewing things? Are you kidding me? That’s just code for “we’re trying to hide the money“.
And then, of course, there’s the judge, McConnell, who’s all, “Hey, wait a minute, this is a clear violation of the order.” Well, duh. I mean, it’s not like the Trump administration has a history of disregarding court orders or anything (oh wait, they totally do). But, hey, at least someone is trying to hold them accountable, right? Although, let’s be real, it’s not like it’s going to make a difference in the grand scheme of things. I mean, have you seen the chaos that is the Trump administration? It’s like trying to herd cats on Red Bull.
But, hey, what do I know? Maybe I’m just being too pessimistic. Maybe the Trump administration will suddenly grow a conscience and start doing the right thing (ha!). Maybe they’ll start following the law and actually helping these states in need. Yeah, right. And maybe I’ll wake up tomorrow with a pizza on my doorstep, courtesy of the pizza delivery fairy.
And, by the way, has anyone noticed how convenient it is that all these states with Democratic attorneys general are the ones not getting their funds? I mean, what a coincidence, right? It’s not like the Trump administration is trying to punish them or anything (oh wait, they totally are). But, hey, who needs fairness and justice when you can just play politics instead?
And, finally, can we talk about how ridiculous it is that we’re even having this conversation? I mean, shouldn’t we be, like, adults and actually work together to help each other out? But, no, instead we’re stuck in this never-ending cycle of partisan politics and bickering. It’s like, can’t we all just get along and, you know, follow the law for once? But, hey, what do I know? I’m just a crazy person ranting on the internet.
