Trump Appoints Himself King, Demands Governors Bring Him Sandwiches

4 Min Read

Breaking news: the United States Postal Service (USPS) has managed to lose a staggering $9.5 billion in the prior fiscal year, because who needs to make money when you’re a government agency, right? I mean, it’s not like they’re trying to stay afloat or anything. And by “not egregious,” I mean they’ve only lost a few billion dollars, which is totally a drop in the bucket compared to the national debt. But hey, who’s counting?

But let’s get real, the USPS has been struggling for years, and it’s not just because of noncash contributions to workers’ compensation. Although, I have to wonder, what exactly are these noncash contributions, and how are they contributing to the deficit? Are they like Monopoly money or something? And while we’re on the topic of money, has anyone noticed how Trump’s 2017 tax plan is projected to add a whopping $15 trillion to the national deficit? Like, what’s the plan here, guys?

And then there’s Postmaster Louis DeJoy, a Trump appointee, who’s warning us about the many economic, legislative, and regulatory obstacles ahead. Obstacles? Ha! That’s just code for “we have no idea what we’re doing, but we’ll figure it out eventually.” I mean, it’s not like they’ve had years to come up with a plan or anything. But hey, at least they’re trying, right? Overhaul, anyone?

Meanwhile, Trump and his allies are busy slashing and hacking federal programs to afford an extension to his tax plan, which will overwhelmingly benefit corporations. Because, you know, corporations need more money, and the rest of us can just, like, magically afford to pay more taxes or something. I mean, it’s not like we have better things to spend our money on, like food or shelter. But hey, at least the corporations will be happy, right?

But seriously, folks, the USPS is in trouble, and it’s not just because of their financial woes. It’s because of the systemic issues that have been plaguing the agency for years. I mean, have you ever tried to track a package with the USPS? It’s like trying to solve a mystery. But I digress. The point is, something needs to be done to save the USPS, and fast. Before it’s too late, and we’re all stuck using carrier pigeons to send mail.

And can we talk about how ironic it is that the USPS is struggling to stay afloat while Trump’s tax plan is projected to add trillions to the national debt? Like, what’s the logic here? Are they trying to sink the USPS on purpose? I mean, I know they’re not exactly competing with the likes of Amazon or anything, but come on. It’s not like they’re trying to kill the USPS or anything. Or are they?

But in all seriousness, the USPS needs our help, and it needs it now. We need to support our local post offices, and we need to use their services. We need to make sure that the USPS can continue to thrive, not just survive. Because, let’s be real, a world without the USPS would be a dark place indeed.
