I’m still trying to wrap my head around the sheer scale of these protests against Donald Trump and Elon Musk – we’re talking hundreds of thousands of people, in all 50 states, and even worldwide – can you believe it? It’s like the entire world has finally had enough of these two… and who can blame them, right? I mean, have you seen the cuts to federal agencies, the attacks on Social Security, and the constant barrage of executive orders that seem designed to undermine our very democracy?
But, and I mean, what’s the plan here – just protesting and hoping for the best? Are we just going to keep buying protest signs and activist gear until something changes? Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for expressing our outrage and frustration, but at some point, we need to start talking about real solutions, right? And, by the way, can someone explain to me why protesters in Berlin were chanting “Fuck you, Elon” outside a Tesla showroom – I mean, I’m no fan of Musk, but is this really the most effective way to protest his policies?
And then there’s the issue of due process being denied to immigrants and pro-Palestinian protesters – I mean, what even is the point of having a justice system if we’re not going to follow it? It’s like, hello, Constitution anyone? And don’t even get me started on Trump’s tariffs – is this guy even listening to his own economists? It’s like he’s trying to tank the economy on purpose or something.
But, I guess what’s most infuriating is the sheer lack of empathy from these wealthy elites – like, don’t they care that their policies are hurting real people? Don’t they have any concept of social justice? I mean, protests are all well and good, but at some point, we need to start seeing some real change – and that means getting involved in the political process, not just yelling about it on the internet.
And, on a completely unrelated note, has anyone tried those new Keurig coffee makers? I mean, they’re supposed to be pretty good, but I’m not sure if they’re worth the hype… anyway, back to the protests – I guess what I’m trying to say is that we need to keep the pressure on, keep Musk and Trump accountable, and keep pushing for real change – not just symbolic gestures, but actual, tangible progress towards a more just and equitable society.
But, I mean, who knows, maybe I’m just being too optimistic – after all, as one protester in Paris said, “Every single day it seems like [Trump] starts doing things on a whim. You don’t really know what he’s going to do. It doesn’t seem like he knows what he’s going to do” – so, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next… and, in the meantime, maybe pick up some stress relief toys or something, because this is all getting pretty overwhelming.
