I am just so done with these press briefings, you know? White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt thinks she’s some kind of economic genius, but really, she’s just drinking the Trump Kool-Aid. And don’t even get me started on these tariffs – are they a tax cut or a tax hike? Make up your mind, Trump!
But seriously, Leavitt had the nerve to tell an Associated Press reporter that tariffs are a “tax cut for the American people.” Yeah, right, because nothing says “tax cut” like paying more for imported goods. I mean, who needs affordable prices when you can have tariffs, am I right?
And then there was this epic exchange between Leavitt and AP reporter Josh Boak, where Boak called out Leavitt on her tariff nonsense. I mean, the guy was like, “Uh, have you ever paid a tariff? Because I have, and they don’t get charged on foreign countries, they get charged on importers.” And Leavitt’s response was basically, “How dare you question my knowledge of economics?” – (because, of course, she’s an expert on everything).
But wait, it gets better – Leavitt actually said, “Tariffs are a tax hike on foreign countries that, again, have been ripping us off.” Ripping us off? What, are we talking about some kind of trade war here? Newsflash, Leavitt: tariffs are paid by importers, not foreign countries. I mean, come on, get your facts straight, woman!
And can we talk about how Leavitt accused Boak of trying to test her knowledge of economics? Like, isn’t that what reporters are supposed to do – ask tough questions and hold people in power accountable? But no, instead, Leavitt gets all defensive and says she regrets giving the Associated Press a question. Oh, poor baby, someone’s questioning her authority.
By the way, have you ever tried to buy something on Amazon and seen those crazy high prices? Yeah, that’s thanks to tariffs. But hey, who needs affordable prices when you can have a trade war, right?
But I digress – the real issue here is the White House‘s ongoing feud with the Associated Press. Like, can’t we all just get along? Nope, instead, we have to deal with press access issues and federal judges getting involved. It’s like, hello, can’t you see we’re trying to report the news here?
And speaking of news, have you heard about the latest Twitter drama? No? Just me? Okay, moving on…
But seriously, folks, this whole tariff thing is a mess. And Leavitt’s responses are just the icing on the cake. I mean, who needs facts when you can just make stuff up and hope nobody notices? It’s like, hello, we have fact checkers for a reason.
And can we talk about how this is all just a big distraction from the real issues? Like, what’s going on with the White House‘s budget? Or their healthcare plan? Nope, instead, we’re stuck talking about tariffs and press access. It’s like, priorities, people!
But I guess that’s just the way the cookie crumbles, right? Or should I say, the way the imported cookies crumble? Ba-dum-tss…
Anyway, I’m done ranting for now. But seriously, Karoline Leavitt, get your facts straight, woman! And White House, get your priorities straight. We’re watching, and we’re not afraid to call you out on your nonsense.
