Shockingly, One in Five Americans Want to Ditch Their Student Loans, Reality TV, and Politicians and Move to Canada: Who Can Blame Them?

5 Min Read

Escalating tensions between the United States and Canada – because, you know, we didn’t have enough drama already. And then, out of nowhere, a new poll reveals that 20 percent of Americans want their state to secede from the union and join Canada – I mean, who wouldn’t want to escape this chaos, right?

But, and this is a big but, have you seen the map of states most likely to secede? It’s like a bad game of Risk, where everyone’s just trying to abandon ship. And what’s with Canada’s map looking so much better than ours – all those lakes and mountains, it’s like they’re trying to steal the show (or should I say, the state?).

It’s not like we didn’t see this coming, though – I mean, President Trump’s tariffs were bound to cause some tension. And let’s be real, his comment about Canada being the 51st state? That was just the icing on the cake (or should I say, the maple syrup on the pancakes?).

Now, I know what you’re thinking – what about the economy? Well, let’s just say it’s not looking great, and those tariffs aren’t helping – in fact, econ watches are probably the only thing selling well right now. And have you seen the flight bookings from Canada to the US? They’ve dropped by over 70 percent – that’s like, a lot of angry Canadians (or should I say, a lot of Canadians who are just done with us?).

But in all seriousness, traveling to Canada might not be a bad idea – I mean, they have universal healthcare, free education, and a functioning government (or so it seems). And who knows, maybe we can learn a thing or two from our northern neighbors – after all, they do seem to be doing something right (apart from maple syrup, of course).

Now, I’m not saying we should all pack our bags and move to Canada (although, let’s be real, it’s tempting). But it’s definitely time for us to take a step back and reevaluate our priorities – and maybe, just maybe, we can learn to get along with our neighbors (or at least, not try to annex them).

As Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said, “The old relationship we had with the United States—based on deepening integration of our economies and tight security and military cooperation—is over.” And honestly, it’s about time – I mean, who needs all that drama, right?

So, what’s next? Well, according to Fox News, Trump is still trying to use “economic force” to annex Canada (because that’s exactly what we need, more economic books to read). But in all seriousness, it’s time for us to take a step back and think about what we really want – and if that means joining Canada, then so be it (just kidding, or am I?).

In conclusion, it’s been a wild ride, folks (and by folks, I mean the 20 percent of Americans who want to secede). But seriously, it’s time for us to take a step back, reevaluate our priorities, and maybe, just maybe, learn to get along with our neighbors. And if that means buying a Canadian flag and waving it proudly, then so be it – after all, it’s not like we have anything better to do (or do we?).

Oh, and one more thing – if you’re one of the 20 percent of Americans who want to secede, just remember, Canada’s immigration process is not exactly a walk in the park (but hey, it’s worth a shot, right?).

And finally, to all my Canadian friends out there, if you’re reading this, just know that we’re not all crazy (or at least, not all of us are). And who knows, maybe one day we’ll learn to get along and even share our maple syrup (just kidding, don’t hold your breath).
