politics can be so dramatic , am I right? I mean, who needs a reality TV show when you have the House chamber? And, let’s be real, some of the things that go down in that room are just, well, wild . Like, have you seen the way Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, was removed from the House chamber after he disrupted President Donald Trump’s joint address to Congress? I mean, the man was shaking his cane at the president, and the crowd went wild .
But, and I know this is going to sound crazy, but I kind of love it. I mean, who doesn’t love a good underdog story? And, let’s be real, Green has been pushing to impeach Trump for, like, forever . So, when he stood up and started shaking his cane, I was like, “Yaaas, Green, do your thing !” And, of course, the other lawmakers were cheering and booing, because, you know, drama .
Now, I know some of you are thinking, “But, didn’t the House Speaker, Mike Johnson, R-La., try to calm everyone down?” And, to that, I say, yes , he did. He read aloud from the House rules, and I’m pretty sure I heard him say something about “decorum” and “respect.” But, let’s be real, when you have a president like Trump, who is, shall we say, not exactly known for his “decorum” and “respect” for others, it’s hard to take that seriously. I mean, have you seen the way he talks about certain groups of people? It’s like, wow , just wow .
And, of course, there were other signs of protest and pushback in the chamber. Like, did you see the way the members of the Democratic Women’s Caucus wore pink to protest Trump’s policies on women and families? I mean, that’s some clever stuff right there. And, let’s not forget the Democrats who wore blue and yellow ties in support of Ukraine, just days after Trump and Vice President JD Vance had an unexpectedly hostile Oval Office meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
But, I digress. The point is, politics can be crazy , and sometimes you just have to roll with it . Like, have you seen the way some Democrats were wearing stickers that accused Elon Musk of “stealing Social Security”? I mean, that’s some next-level stuff right there. And, let’s not forget the black paddles that read “SAVE MEDICAID,” “PROTECT VETERANS,” and “MUSK STEALS.” I mean, who comes up with this stuff?

And, let’s not forget the group of House Democrats who took off their jackets and revealed black shirts with writing on the back. Like, Reps. Jasmine Crockett of Texas and Andrea Salinas of Oregon had shirts reading “Resist,” and Rep. Maxwell Frost of Florida had one saying, “No more kings.” I mean, that’s some powerful stuff right there.
