Ontario will impose a 25 per cent surcharge on electricity exports to 1.5 million Americans starting Monday, in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
Premier Doug Ford stated that the surcharge is a direct result of the tariffs, and he will not back down until they are removed, adding that he wants to renegotiate the Canada-United States-Mexico free trade deal.
