Premier RJ Simpson has warned Canadians to prepare for “a difficult few years” due to US tariffs. The Northwest Territories has joined other Canadian jurisdictions in planning countermeasures, including stopping the sale of US liquor and reducing procurement from American companies.
The territory will also end its contracts with Starlink, a gesture based on principle rather than financial consequence. Premier Simpson emphasized the need for Canadians to stay united and resist the impact of the tariffs, which may cause economic pain but will not weaken the country’s resolve.
