The new search for the missing aircraft will be conducted on a no find, no fee basis, with the government paying US$70 million if the plane is found. The search area will cover 15,000 sq km in the southern Indian Ocean.
Ocean Infinity, the company conducting the search, had previously carried out an unsuccessful hunt in 2018. The company has combined all the data and feels confident that the current search area is more credible, according to Loke, who says they have convinced the government that they are ready to proceed.
