Mysterious Sabotage: Subsea Cable Linking Nova Scotia and Newfoundland Targeted Again

Telecommunications giant Bell is investigating the deliberate cutting of one of its subsea fibre optic cables in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, which was severed for the second time on December 24.

The company is exploring surveillance options and considering using satellite imagery to monitor the area, and is cooperating with the RCMP in its investigation to determine who cut the cable and why, with the primary network path to Newfoundland and Labrador being affected.
