Elon Musk has shared disinformation on social media regarding a Ukrainian official allegedly stealing $46 million to purchase a villa, vineyard, and land plots in France. The claim was rebuked by the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, which identified the individual in question as Dmytro Perehudov, a former head of Ukraine’s defence industry.
The investigation found that Perehudov had laundered over $46 million through sham agency agreements and had purchased luxury real estate in France, which has since been seized by a French court. Perehudov has been wanted since 2017 and is currently believed to be in France.
