Italy has signed an agreement to provide Ukraine with 13 million euros ($13.5 million) to support the restoration of Ukraine’s energy sector. The funding will be used to procure essential equipment and strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system.
The assistance comes as Russia continues to target Ukrainian energy infrastructure, with material losses amounting to “billions of dollars” according to Ukraine’s Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko. The funding is part of Italy’s efforts to support Ukraine, with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni consistently supporting Kyiv and pledging assistance until the war ends.
