Hungary has purchased gas and oil from Russia for EUR 15.6 billion since the Russian-Ukrainian war began on 24 February 2022, making it the largest EU financier of Putin’s war.
Hungary’s reliance on Russian energy sources has increased, unlike many EU countries that have reduced their dependence, with the country becoming the largest EU financier of Russia’s war on Ukraine over the past two years, according to Finnish research institute data.
