I’m supposed to be writing about Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem’s latest propaganda video, but honestly, can we talk about how ridiculous it is that she’s trying to scare people with a video filmed inside El Salvador’s Terrorism Confinement Center? I mean, what’s next, a tour of the Guantanamo Bay gift shop?

And let’s be real, the fact that she’s warning people that they might end up in this prison if they try to enter the U.S. without documentation is just a thinly veiled threat. It’s like, hello, don’t you think that’s a bit dramatic? I mean, I’ve seen more subtle warnings on a pack of Marlboro cigarettes. But hey, at least she’s consistent, right? I mean, who needs due process when you can just deport people to a third-world prison?

But what really gets my goat is that people are actually defending this nonsense. I mean, come on, Trump supporters, can’t you see that this is just a desperate attempt to distract us from the fact that the administration is deporting people without due process? It’s like, hello, have you read the ACLU’s website lately?

And then there’s the issue of Noem’s watch. I mean, is that really a Rolex Daytona she’s wearing? Because if so, that’s just a nice little touch of hypocrisy, don’t you think? I mean, who needs a $50,000 watch when you’re trying to scare people with a video about prison? But hey, at least she’s consistent, right?

But in all seriousness, the fact that a U.S. appeals court upheld a lower court’s temporary block on the deportation of some Venezuelan immigrants is a small victory for humanity. I mean, it’s not like the Trump administration was going to listen to reason or anything, but at least the courts are trying to hold them accountable.
