Israeli military officials have launched an investigation into the killing of 15 unarmed medics and aid workers in southern Gaza, after video footage contradicted the official version of events. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) admitted that soldiers may have “mistakenly” identified the paramedics as a threat.
The IDF had claimed that the medics’ vehicles did not have emergency signals on when troops opened fire, but video footage shows the vehicles driving slowly with emergency lights flashing and logos visible. The incident is under thorough investigation to understand the conduct of events.
