Bernie Sanders Shocks Nation by Not Calling for Anyone to Resign, World Left Reeling in Disappointment

4 Min Read

And let’s get this straight – the drama between Trump and Zelenskyy is like a never-ending soap opera (but with more geopolitics and less fake tan). But, seriously, have you seen the latest developments? It’s all about who said what, and who’s trying to one-up whom. I mean, Trump’s Oval Office meeting with Zelenskyy was basically a “calculated political ambush” (according to some Democratic Senator, (check it out)), where Trump kinda, sorta, definitely blamed Ukraine for the war (um, what?).

But, (and this is a big but), Speaker Johnson came along and said it’s “absurd” to claim Republicans support Putin ( full interview here). And, on the other hand, Sen. Bernie Sanders thinks calls for Zelenskyy to resign are just “horrific” (more on that here). I mean, can we just get a referee in here to sort out all these conflicting statements?

And, while we’re at it, Trump’s been pretty vocal about his dislike for Ukraine’s president, saying he should “come to his senses” or someone else should lead the country (what even is that?). But, in all fairness, Lankford did say that “cutting fraud” is reasonable, but no one wants to cut benefits (because, priorities and all that).

Oh, and did I mention that the path to a Ukraine peace deal is now deeply uncertain after the Trump-Zelenskyy clash (U.S. officials say so, check the interview)? Like, what’s the plan here, folks? Can someone please just draw a flowchart or something?

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “What about the rest of the world? Don’t they have a say in all this?” Well, apparently, Russia’s just over here waiting for its chance to invade some NATO countries (according to Zelenskyy, more on that), and Trump & Vance are showing “weakness in the face of Putin” ( top Armed Services Dem says so, here).

And, let’s not forget – all these videos are available on Meet the Press, if you want to get the full scoop (just, you know, be prepared for some serious head-spinning).

But, hey, at least we have some comedic relief – like when Trump ‘eliminated the most powerful tool’ in the U.S. arsenal (according to some former USAID leader, watch the clip), or when Mayor Adams was accused of a ‘quid pro quo’ (and, honestly, it’s all a bit too much to handle).

Anyway, to sum it all up (because, wow, we’ve covered a lot of ground here), it’s all just a big mess of politics and posturing. So, what do you think? Should we all just take a deep breath, step back, and let the grown-ups handle it (or, you know, just grab some popcorn and enjoy the show)?

And, can we please, for the love of all things good and holy, get a clear answer on what’s going on with Ukraine? Like, are we supporting them or not? (And, if so, how? Let’s get informed).

But, (because there’s always a but), can we also talk about how SNL’s Darrell Hammond mastered those political impressions? Like, the man’s a genius (and, honestly, we could all use a good laugh right about now).

And, finally, (because this is getting long), let’s just acknowledge that Republicans won’t “get everything we want” in a government funding deal (according to some GOP lawmaker, watch the interview), and that’s just the way the cookie crumbles (or, you know, the way the politics play out).

Whew, that’s a lot of politics for one day. I need a coffee break (or five). How about you?
