China’s Ministry of Commerce has urged the U.S. to immediately cancel its unilateral tariff measures, vowing to take resolute counter-measures to safeguard its rights and interests.
The move comes after U.S. President Donald Trump announced steep tariff hikes, with China facing a 34% tariff rate, in addition to existing tariffs, taking the effective total rate to 54%. Other countries, including Canada, South Korea, and Australia, have also expressed dissatisfaction with the tariff measures, with some planning to implement counter-measures.
