Argentina Launches Controversial Review of Disability Benefits Amid Fears of Austerity Measures

Argentina’s government, led by President Javier Milei, has initiated a process to evaluate hundreds of thousands of people receiving disability benefits. The aim is to ensure that only those who genuinely need assistance receive it.

The government plans to assess over a million people, with estimated savings of 900 billion pesos this year, by subjecting disability benefits to evaluation according to medical criteria established by health authorities.
