I’m just so done with the lack of transparency in politics, you know? According to CNBC, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez thinks her colleagues should probably disclose their recent stock purchases, and honestly, it’s about time someone said that out loud.
But let’s be real, this is not exactly a shocking revelation, I mean, who doesn’t love a good ol’ fashioned insider trading scandal every now and then?
And can we talk about how convenient it is that this is coming up now, like, after the whole GameStop debacle? It’s not like they’re trying to distract us from the real issues or anything (ahem, unemployment rates, anyone?).
But seriously, have you seen the SEC’s website lately? It’s like they’re trying to make it as hard as possible to find any useful information.
I mean, what’s next, are they going to start insider trading on game consoles or something? Because, let’s be real, that’s basically what’s happening here – they’re playing the stock market like it’s a big game of Monopoly, and we’re all just pawns in their little scheme.
And don’t even get me started on the Federal Reserve, I mean, what’s their role in all of this, exactly?
But, I guess it’s good that Ocasio-Cortez is speaking out about this, maybe someone will finally listen and we’ll get some actual legislation passed to prevent this kind of thing from happening in the future (yeah, right, like that’s going to happen).
And, hey, if you’re feeling particularly feisty, you can always check out the SEC’s company search page, just for kicks (just don’t say I didn’t warn you).
I’m just so done with all of this, can we please just have some transparency and accountability for once? Is that too much to ask?
But, hey, at least we have books on politics to keep us informed (or misinformed, depending on the author’s agenda).
And, on a completely unrelated note, has anyone tried that new coffee maker from Amazon? I heard it’s life-changing.
Anyway, where was I? Ah yes, Ocasio-Cortez and her colleagues – it’s just so rich that they’re getting called out for their shady dealings, I mean, who doesn’t love a good corruption scandal every now and then?
But, in all seriousness, this is some serious stuff, and we need to be paying attention – follow the money, people!
And, hey, if you’re feeling overwhelmed by all of this, just take a deep breath and remember that it’s all just a big game of thrones – except, you know, with fewer dragons and more suits and ties.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, we need to wake up and smell the coffee – this is our country, and we deserve better than a bunch of politics as usual.
But, hey, at least we have Twitter to keep us informed (or misinformed, depending on who you follow).
And, on a completely unrelated note, has anyone seen that new TV show everyone’s been talking about? I heard it’s lit.
Anyway, I’m just going to go ahead and buy a book on politics and try to make sense of all this, wish me luck (I’ll need it).
But, in all seriousness, this is some serious stuff, and we need to be paying attention – follow the money, people!
And, hey, if you’re feeling overwhelmed by all of this, just take a deep breath and remember that it’s all just a big puzzle – except, you know, with fewer puzzle pieces and more red tape.
