Archaeologists in Austria have discovered the remains of around 150 Roman soldiers in a mass grave. The skeletal remains were found during construction work to renovate a football pitch in Simmering, and expert analysis has confirmed they date back to the 1st century Roman Empire.
The discovery is considered rare due to the practice of cremation during that period, and the remains show evidence of injuries caused by swords, spears, and projectile bolts, indicating the men were killed in battle.
