The United States is seeking detailed proposals from European countries on their plans to support Ukraine during and after potential peace negotiations with Russia. The State Department has sent questionnaires to gauge Europe’s willingness to provide weaponry, troops, and other security arrangements.
The move comes as the US prepares to mediate talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, with Europe’s interests to be taken into account, according to special envoy Keith Kellogg. European leaders have been criticized for not meeting their NATO defense spending obligations, and are now being urged to step up their support for Ukraine.
