A 19-year-old Syrian man is suspected of stabbing a Spanish tourist at Berlin’s Holocaust Memorial. The attack is believed to have been planned for several weeks, with the goal of killing Jewish people.
The victim underwent an operation and was put into an induced coma, but his life is no longer in danger. German authorities are investigating possible connections to the Middle East conflict and the suspect’s mental health, with Interior Minister Nancy Faeser condemning the attack as an “abhorrent and brutal crime”.
