President Donald Trump’s special envoy to Ukraine, Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, suggested that Ukraine could be divided like Berlin after World War II. This comment was made as another envoy, Steve Witkoff, held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg.
Kellogg later clarified his statement, saying he was referring to a post-ceasefire resiliency force to support Ukraine’s sovereignty, not a partitioning of the country. However, Ukraine has repeatedly rejected any ceasefire or peace deal involving the ceding of land, and the reference to zones may have raised alarms in Kyiv.
