Afghanistan’s Taliban morality police have detained individuals for non-compliant hairstyles and beard lengths, as well as for missing prayers at mosques during Ramadan, according to a U.N. report.
The Vice and Virtue Ministry laws, in effect since August, have led to detentions without due process and negatively impacted small businesses, particularly those owned by women, resulting in reduced income and employment opportunities.
