Estonia Considers Drastic Measure to Protect Underwater Assets: Sinking Ships on Sight

Estonia’s parliament is preparing legislation to authorize the use of military force against commercial vessels suspected of damaging undersea cables or critical infrastructure.

The proposed law would allow the military to sink a vessel in extreme cases, but only as a last resort and after the crew has been evacuated, to prevent a large-scale catastrophe or threat to many lives.
