I’m still trying to wrap my head around this whole Social Security Administration debacle, and I’m getting increasingly frustrated by the minute – can someone please explain to me why anyone would think it’s a good idea to cancel contracts with the state of Maine as some sort of twisted political payback against its Democratic governor, Janet Mills?
And what’s with this Leland Dudek guy, the acting commissioner of Social Security, who seems to think he’s above the law, or at least above basic human decency – I mean, who in their right mind would order his staff to cancel vital records contracts with a state, despite being warned that it would lead to improper payments and potential identity theft?
But, I guess that’s what happens when you have someone like Dudek, who’s admitted to being "upset" with Governor Mills, and has a history of making questionable decisions – like the time he helped Elon Musk’s DOGE team access sensitive databases inside the agency, and was subsequently put on administrative leave – yeah, that’s exactly the kind of person you want in charge of the Social Security Administration, said no one ever.
And then, there’s the White House, which is basically defending Dudek’s actions, and criticizing Governor Mills for not catering to the "anti-science and anti-women lunatics of the transgender movement" – I mean, what even is that supposed to mean, and how is it relevant to the issue at hand?
Anyway, if you’re looking for a book on the Social Security Administration, I’d recommend checking out some of the reviews on Amazon, but be warned, it’s not exactly a thrilling topic – unless you’re into that sort of thing, in which case, go for it, I guess.
But, I digress, the real issue here is the fact that Dudek’s actions have caused a huge inconvenience for the people of Maine, who can no longer request Social Security numbers for their newborns at the hospital – I mean, who does that, right, it’s not like it’s a basic service or anything.
And, of course, there’s the fact that Dudek reinstated the contracts less than 24 hours later, after an outcry from pediatricians and pressure from Maine’s congressional delegation – but not before he could do some irreparable damage, no doubt.
So, what’s the takeaway from all this, you ask – well, for starters, it’s clear that we need to keep a close eye on our government officials, and make sure they’re not abusing their power for political gain – and if you’re looking for a good book on politics, I’d recommend checking out some of the reviews on Amazon.
And, on a completely unrelated note, has anyone tried those new coconut water drinks that are all the rage nowadays – I mean, are they actually good for you, or are they just a fashionable fad?
But, I guess that’s a topic for another time – the point is, we need to be vigilant and make sure our government officials are working for us, not against us – and if you’re looking for a book on government accountability, I’d recommend checking out some of the reviews on Amazon.
And, finally, if you’re as outraged as I am about this whole situation, you can support independent journalism, and help keep the powerful accountable – or, you know, you could just buy a coffee, and pretend like everything is fine.
