I’m still trying to wrap my head around this Elon Musk guy – the world’s richest man, no less – getting heckled at a rally in Wisconsin and then proceeding to claim that the hecklers were paid operatives of George Soros, because, you know, that’s not a totally overused and baseless conspiracy theory or anything.
And let’s get this straight, he was in Green Bay to support his buddy Brad Schimel, the Republican candidate for the state supreme court, and he gave away $1 million checks to get people to vote for him – I mean, who doesn’t love a good bribe, right? It’s not like that’s corrupt or a blatant form of vote-buying or anything (note to self: look up definition of vote-buying).
But wait, it gets better – Musk actually said, "It was inevitable at least a few Soros operatives would be in the audience," and then had the nerve to tell the hecklers to "give his regards to George" – I mean, is this guy serious, or is he just trolling us at this point? And by the way, has anyone noticed that he’s basically doing what Republicans always accuse George Soros of doing, but, you know, actually doing it? Anyway, you can find more information about George Soros on the internet.
And the responses to this whole debacle are just priceless – I mean, Brian Tyler Cohen nailed it when he asked if Elon Musk was attacking George Soros while literally buying an election in Wisconsin – I mean, is that not the most hypocritical thing you’ve ever heard? But, of course, this is the same guy who thinks he can just buy his way to the top and get away with it.
But what really gets my goat is that this whole thing has huge implications for the outcome of the state supreme court election – I mean, the winner will determine the ideological bent of the court, and with Musk throwing his weight (and money) behind Schimel, it’s basically a referendum on Musk and Trump – and can we just take a moment to appreciate the irony of that? It’s like, hello, Donald Trump has already put the richest people in charge of dismantling the government, and now Musk is doing the same thing in Wisconsin – it’s like they’re trying to create some sort of oligarchy or something.
And journalist Bill Madden hit the nail on the head when he said that Musk was showing "ZERO self-awareness" by claiming the hecklers were paid Soros operatives while he’s literally bribing people to vote for his chosen candidate – I mean, come on, is this guy for real? But, hey, at least he’s consistent, right? You can check out more of Bill Madden’s tweets for more insight into this whole debacle.
As Dave Zweifel so aptly put it, thwarting this duo’s brazen attempt to use Wisconsin to sanction their methods would go a long way to signal the people’s disgust – and I couldn’t agree more, because, honestly, this whole thing is just getting out of hand – I mean, who needs democracy when you can just buy your way to the top, right? But, hey, at least we can all agree that this is a total disaster, and we should probably just read some George Orwell to understand what’s really going on here.
And, on a completely unrelated note, has anyone tried those new Elon Musk merchandise items – I hear they’re, like, totally worth it (note to self: sarcasm). But, in all seriousness, can we please just take a step back and look at what’s happening here – I mean, this is not just about Wisconsin or the state supreme court election; it’s about the very fabric of our democracy, and whether or not we’re going to let people like Elon Musk and Donald Trump just buy their way to the top – because, honestly, if we do, I fear for the future of our country.
And, finally, can we please just acknowledge that this whole thing is, like, totally absurd – I mean, we’re living in a world where the world’s richest man can just get up on stage and claim that hecklers are paid operatives of George Soros, while he’s literally bribing people to vote for his chosen candidate – it’s like something out of a satire novel or something – but, hey, at least it’s entertaining, right? But, in all seriousness, we need to wake up and realize what’s happening here – this is not a joke, and we need to take action to stop it.
