I mean, who doesn’t love a good game of golf, right? Apparently, our former president does, and we’re all just along for the ride (and by ride, I mean expensive ride). The total cost of Trump’s golf excursions has now crossed the $26 million mark, because why worry about budgets and fiscal responsibility when you can just play golf all day?
And let’s be real, who needs actual governance when you can spend your time on the links, pretending to care about the game while actually just trying to escape the pressures of being a leader? But hey, at least we’re getting some great golf balls out of the deal, right? I mean, have you seen the swag on those things?
But seriously, $26 million is a lot of money, and I’m not even sure what we’re getting for it (besides a bunch of angry tweets about how great his golf game is). Are we at least getting some decent golf tips out of the deal? I didn’t think so.
And don’t even get me started on the whole optics thing – I mean, who thought it was a good idea to spend millions of dollars on golf trips while people are struggling to make ends meet? It’s like, hello, Empathy and Compassion are just down the street, you know? But hey, at least we can all buy our own golf clubs and pretend to be rich, too.
But what really gets my goat is that this is all just a big drop in the bucket compared to the actual costs of being a president (or in this case, a former president). I mean, have you seen the prices of those private jets? Yikes. It’s like, can’t we all just Uber to our destinations instead?
And let’s not forget the real victims here: the poor environment, which has to deal with the carbon footprint of all those private jets and gas-guzzling golf carts. I mean, who needs clean air and green spaces when you can have golf, right? (Sorry, I had to). But in all seriousness, maybe it’s time to start a petition to make golf a more sustainable sport – or at least more affordable for the rest of us.
