And let’s get this straight, folks, the Trump administration is at it again, trying to declare war on the TdA (whatever that means) and invoking some wartime law, because, you know, that’s exactly what we need, more war. But, apparently, if they want to play by wartime rules, they have to follow the Geneva Conventions, which, shocker, prohibit the public exploitation of prisoners of war. I mean, who wouldn’t want to exploit some prisoners, right? It’s not like we’re civilized or anything.
But, seriously, the Trump administration and CECOT (who are these people, by the way?) may have violated other aspects of the Geneva Conventions, like not providing the names, serial numbers, and addresses of all prisoners, not allowing them to write to their families, and not letting them send and receive letters and cards. You know, basic human rights stuff. And, let’s be real, who needs human rights when you’re at war, right? I mean, it’s not like we’re talking about actual human beings here.
And, in a filing, Judge James Boasberg said that sending prisoners to CECOT, which is notorious for human rights abuses (because, you know, that’s not a red flag or anything), the Trump administration had likely violated the Foreign Affairs Reform and Restructuring Act of 1998. Because, apparently, we have laws against sending people to countries where they might be tortured. Who knew? (By the way, has anyone seen my cat? I think I left him in the kitchen).
But, I mean, come on, folks, this is just getting ridiculous. We’re talking about the Trump administration here, the same people who think alternative facts are a thing. So, of course, they’re going to try to exploit prisoners of war and violate human rights. It’s not like they have a track record of, you know, not doing that. And, hey, if you’re interested in learning more about the Geneva Conventions, I heard there’s a great book on Amazon that you can check out.
And, let’s not forget, this is all part of the Trump administration’s war on TdA, which, as far as I can tell, is just a fancy way of saying “we’re going to pick on some people and hope no one notices”. But, hey, at least they’re consistent, right? I mean, who needs things like “human rights” and “the law” when you’ve got Twitter to distract everyone? (By the way, has anyone seen my phone? I think I left it in the living room).
But, in all seriousness, folks, this is some serious stuff. We’re talking about human rights abuses, exploitation of prisoners, and violations of international law. So, let’s all just take a deep breath and try to remember that we’re supposed to be the “good guys” here. You know, the ones who care about human rights and the law. Not the ones who, you know, exploit prisoners of war. (Wait, what was I saying? Oh right, human rights). And, if you’re interested in learning more about human rights, I recommend checking out the Human Rights Watch website.
And, finally, let’s just take a moment to appreciate the absurdity of it all. I mean, we’re living in a world where the Trump administration is trying to declare war on some unknown entity, and we’re all just supposed to go along with it. It’s like something out of a satirical novel. But, hey, at least it’s entertaining, right? (By the way, has anyone seen my sense of humor? I think I left it in the fridge). And, if you’re looking for a good laugh, I recommend checking out the political satire section on Amazon.
