Are you kidding me? Demands for the resignation of US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are flooding social media, and honestly, it’s about time someone took responsibility for this mess. I mean, who shares classified military plans via text message to a group chat? And not just any group chat, but one that includes Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic, who, might I add, is not exactly known for his discretion.
And let’s not forget the content of the text thread, titled Houthi PC Small Group Chat, which detailed upcoming strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen. I mean, war plans are not exactly something you want to share with the world, especially not with a journalist. But hey, who needs secrecy when you can have a group chat, right? (Or should I say, wrong?) By the way, have you seen the books on national security available on Amazon? Maybe Hegseth should check them out.
But, seriously, the fact that Hegseth shared this information via text message is a grave breach of national security protocols. And the fact that President Donald Trump dismissed the report, claiming to have just heard about it “for the first time,” is just laughable. I mean, come on, Donald, you can’t just dismiss this issue and expect it to go away. Although, I have to say, his comment about The Atlantic going out of business did make me chuckle. It’s like, okay, Donald, you can try to deflect all you want, but the fact remains that your administration is a hot mess.
And, of course, social media users are having a field day with this, calling Hegseth a “disgrace” and demanding his resignation. Like, one user wrote, “You need to resign. You are grossly incompetent.” Yeah, no kidding. Another user said, “A lot of people in that little chat leak need to resign in shame and be replaced by adults with experience.” I mean, couldn’t agree more. It’s like, how do you even share classified information via text message? Do you not know what secure messaging apps are?
But, I guess that’s what happens when you have a politics that values loyalty over competence. And, by the way, have you seen the books about Donald Trump on Amazon? They’re, uh, quite the read. Anyway, back to Hegseth, who, let’s be real, should probably just resign already. Like, what’s the point of even having a defense secretary if they can’t even keep secrets?
And, as if all this wasn’t enough, the fact that Vice President JD Vance, secretary of state Marco Rubio, director of intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, and national security advisor Mike Waltz were all part of this group chat is just mind-boggling. I mean, what were they thinking? Didn’t they know that sharing classified information via text message is a huge national security risk? It’s like, come on, guys, get it together. You’re not exactly known for your discretion, but still.
But, in all seriousness, this whole situation is just a national security breach waiting to happen. And, honestly, I’m surprised it hasn’t happened yet. I mean, with the way this administration handles classified information, it’s a wonder we haven’t had a major security breach yet. Although, I guess that’s what happens when you prioritize politics over security. Anyway, I’m just going to go face-palm myself into oblivion now.
And, finally, I just want to say that this whole situation is just satire waiting to happen. I mean, come on, a defense secretary sharing classified information via text message? It’s like something out of a comedy movie. Although, I guess that’s what happens when you have a politics as usual kind of administration. Anyway, that’s my two cents on this whole debacle. Take it for what it’s worth.
