Trump Declares War on Ontario’s Electric Bills, Claims ‘My Hairdryer is a National Security Issue’

And let’s get this straight, because apparently, someone needs to tell Donald Trump that Canada is, in fact, a separate country with its own government and rules. But no, he thinks he can just dictate what Ontario can and can’t do? Give me a break.

Trump claims that Ontario is "not allowed" to slap a surcharge on electricity sent to U.S. states, because, you know, he’s an expert on everything, including electricity trading between countries. I mean, who needs facts or international agreements when you have Trump’s gut feeling, right? (By the way, has anyone seen his birth certificate? Just wondering).

And what’s next, Trump going to tell us that Ontario’s energy policy is wrong and that he knows better? Newsflash, Trump: Canada has its own energy policy, and it doesn’t involve you. But hey, I’m sure the people of Ontario would love to hear Trump’s thoughts on energy policy, because, you know, he’s a genius.

But, let’s talk about the real issue here: electricity trading between the U.S. and Canada. Because, apparently, Trump thinks that Ontario just decided to slap a surcharge on electricity sent to U.S. states out of the blue, without any reason or regulatory framework. I mean, who needs things like facts or NERC when you have Trump’s version of reality? (Did I mention that Trump is a stable genius?).

And don’t even get me started on the energy trade agreements between the U.S. and Canada. Because, clearly, Trump has no idea what he’s talking about, and I’m starting to think that he’s just making things up as he goes along. But hey, who needs things like NAFTA or USMCA when you have Trump’s "great and beautiful" wall?

But seriously, has anyone told Trump that the IESO (that’s the Independent Electricity System Operator for those who don’t speak electricity) is in charge of Ontario’s electricity system, not him? Because, apparently, he thinks that he can just dictate what Ontario can and can’t do with its own electricity. And by the way, I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure that electricity trading between countries involves, I don’t know, international trade agreements and regulations?
