Republican lawmakers are running away from their constituents, dodging town halls like they’re avoiding the plague (which, let’s be real, their policies might actually cause). But, on the other hand, LGBTQ+ Democrats are doing the exact opposite – they’re out here hosting town halls, listening to voters, and being actual representatives of the people (what a concept!).
And, let me tell you, it’s not like these town halls are poorly attended. No, Rep. Emily Randall’s event was so packed that she had to hold a second session. I mean, who doesn’t love a good town hall, am I right? But, seriously, it’s amazing to see politicians actually caring about what their constituents have to say.
But, I mean, what’s the point of even having town halls if you’re just going to hide behind a phone and avoid real questions? Republicans are taking a page out of the avoidance playbook, and it’s just so… predictable. I guess it’s easier to just dismiss the concerns of your constituents and call it “political theater” rather than actually addressing their fears and worries.
Anyway, back to the good stuff. Washington Rep. Emily Randall and Wisconsin Rep. Mark Pocan are showing us what it means to be real leaders. They’re not afraid to get out there and listen to their constituents, even if it means facing tough questions and criticism.
And, can we talk about Rep. Mark Pocan’s town hall in Wisconsin? I mean, the man is a hero. He’s calling out his Republican colleague, Rep. Derrick Van Orden, for refusing to hold town halls, and he’s doing it in the most epic way possible. By holding a town hall in Van Orden’s district, Pocan is showing that he’s not afraid to get out there and listen to the people, even if it means going into “enemy territory”.
But, I guess that’s what happens when you’re a Democrat – you actually care about the people you’re representing. I mean, it’s not like Republicans are going to start doing the same thing anytime soon. They’re too busy hiding behind their phones and avoiding real conversations.
And, let’s not forget about Rep. Emily Randall’s impressive town hall attendance. I mean, the woman is a rockstar. She’s out here hosting town halls, listening to voters, and being an actual representative of the people. It’s amazing to see someone who actually cares about what their constituents have to say.
But, what’s even more amazing is that Democrats are not backing down. They’re out here, hosting town halls, listening to voters, and being actual representatives of the people. It’s like they’re trying to show Republicans how it’s done.
And, can we talk about Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s idea to host town halls in Republican districts? I mean, the woman is a genius. She’s calling out Republicans for hiding from their constituents, and she’s doing it in the most epic way possible. By hosting town halls in Republican districts, Ocasio-Cortez is showing that she’s not afraid to get out there and listen to the people, even if it means going into “enemy territory”.
Anyway, I guess that’s what happens when you’re a Democrat – you actually care about the people you’re representing. I mean, it’s not like Republicans are going to start doing the same thing anytime soon. But, hey, a girl can dream, right?

But, wait, what was I saying? Oh right, Democrats are amazing, and Republicans are, well, not so much. I mean, it’s not like they’re actually trying to represent the people or anything. But, hey, at least they’re consistent, right?
And, can we talk about gender-affirming care? I mean, it’s not like Republicans are actually trying to take away people’s rights or anything. But, hey, at least they’re consistent, right?
But, I mean, what’s the point of even talking about this stuff if Republicans are just going to keep on doing what they’re doing? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next. But, hey, at least we have Democrats who actually care about the people they’re representing.
