US President Donald Trump has signed orders expanding the goods exempted from his new tariffs on Canada and Mexico. This move comes after Trump imposed tariffs on the two countries earlier in the week, causing uncertainty for businesses and worrying financial markets.
The exemptions apply to goods shipped under the US-Mexico-Canada agreement (USMCA), including televisions, air conditioners, avocados, and beef. The measures also reduced tariffs on potash, a key ingredient for fertiliser, from 25% to 10%. However, about 50% of US imports from Mexico and 62% from Canada may still face tariffs.
