Ontario Premier Doug Ford has announced that the province will impose a 25 per cent tariff on electricity exported to the U.S. as of Monday, despite a one-month reprieve on tariffs on many Canadian goods.
The premier has stated that the tariffs will remain in place until U.S. President Donald Trump removes the threat of tariffs entirely, and has threatened to double the energy tax to 50 per cent if necessary, citing the need for reciprocal action in response to the U.S. tariffs.
