Because, of course, they did, the U.S. House voted 224-198 Thursday morning to censure Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, for interrupting Trump’s address to Congress Tuesday night – and I’m still trying to pick my jaw up from the floor. But, let’s get real, who didn’t see this coming? I mean, it’s not like the Republicans have better things to do than bully a man for standing up for what he believes in.
And, can we talk about the fact that Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, stood up to Trump and refused to back down? I mean, the man has guts, and I’m not just saying that because I’ve had one too many cups of coffee this morning. Although, if you’re interested in buying a coffee mug to fuel your own resistance, I highly recommend it.
But, I digress. The point is, Rep. Green’s actions were a beacon of hope in a sea of Democratic indecision. And, let’s be real, if the Democrats don’t get their act together, they’ll be eating their words for a long time.
If only the rest of the Democrats had followed Rep. Green’s lead, maybe, just maybe, they could have made a real statement and shown the American people that they’re not just a bunch of slugs in suits. But, alas, it seems they’re more interested in playing it safe and looking like a bunch of fools.
What’s the point of even having a Democratic party if they’re just going to roll over and play dead every time Trump comes knocking? I mean, seriously, where’s the spine in that? And, don’t even get me started on the polls – who cares about polls when you’re not even fighting for what you believe in?
And, can someone please explain to me why the Democrats are so afraid to break the rules? I mean, come on, it’s not like they’re going to get handcuffed and thrown in jail or something. Although, if they do, I’ll be the first to bail them out.
But, in all seriousness, the Democrats need to step up their game if they want to take on Trump and the Republicans. They need to be willing to take a stand and fight for what’s right, even if it means getting a little messy. So, let’s all take a page out of Rep. Green’s book and be bold, shall we?
