India’s first comprehensive transgender clinic, Mitr Clinic in Hyderabad, has shut down due to a freeze in USAID funding by the Trump administration. The clinic provided healthcare services to the transgender community, including hormone therapy and HIV/STI treatment.
The USAID funding cut has also led to political turmoil in India, with allegations of foreign interference in Indian elections and a reduction of $60 billion in assistance worldwide, sparking debates over the role of foreign aid in India’s internal affairs.
