South Africa will host Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky on a state visit, confirmed President Cyril Ramaphosa. The invite comes after Kyiv was excluded from US-Russia talks on ending the war in Ukraine.
The two presidents agreed on the need for an inclusive peace process, with Zelensky stating “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine”. South Africa has historic ties with Russia and aims to play a role in finding an end to the fighting, with Ramaphosa previously leading a delegation to meet Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
