US President Donald Trump is expecting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to visit Washington to sign a “big deal” on minerals. The draft agreement will see the US jointly develop Ukraine’s mineral wealth, with revenues going to a shared fund.
The deal, however, does not provide the security guarantees Ukraine wanted, and Trump mentioned that “some form” of peacekeeping troops will be necessary for Ukraine, with some European countries willing to send forces. The minerals deal may ease recent tensions between Trump and Zelenskyy.
