Rebel forces from the Alliance Fleuve Congo (AFC) have taken control of Bukavu, the second largest city in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to residents and the rebel group.
The AFC, which includes the M23 armed group, claimed to have occupied strategic points in the city, including the provincial governor’s office and residence, with no government forces in sight.
